Biography of Atta-ur-Rahman

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Kings College, University of Cambridge (1968), has 1235 international publications in several fields of organic chemistry including, 349 books published largely by major U.S. and European presses. He was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London) (2006) and won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999).Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was conferred honorary D.Sc. degrees by many leading world universities including the University of Cambridge and appointed an Honorary Life Fellow of Kings College, University of Cambridge. The Austrian government honoured him with its high civil award (“Grosse Goldene Ehrenzeischen am Bande") (2007). He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was appointed Academician (Foreign Member) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2015). He won the “Friendship Award of China” (2014) and was conferred the highest scientific award of China, the International Science & Technology Cooperation Award, by President Xi Jinping (2020). He was bestowed with the International Scientific Corporation Award (2014) and the “Einstein Professorship” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) (2013). He was also elected as Foreign Member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology. Research Institutes have been established in his name in China, Malaysia and Pakistan.

I am a professor from College of Life Sciences, Wuhan University, China. I has more than 20 years of experience in the research of animal toxin peptides, involving in cDNA, genome, biological and pharmacological roles (such as anti-virus, anti-tumor, ion-channel-modulating), molecular diversity and evolution. I graduated Ph.D from College of Life Sciences, Wuhan University, China in 2004. I was also a visiting scholar of Meharry Medical College, USA from 2014 to 2015. Notably, I has authored more than 100 manuscripts and 12 patents. I was an Excellent Young Scholar of China National Science Fund in 2014 and got Youth Science and Technology Award from Chinese Society of Toxicology in 2016.

Biography of M.A. Kamal

Dr Mohammad Amjad Kamal is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor at the King Fahd Medical Research Center (KFMRC), King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is leading a highly productive global collaborative research team based on the Novel Global Community Educational Foundation (NGCEF), Australia. His biochemical research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease, Type 2 diabetes and leukemia has culminated in more than 500 publications in internationally respected journals, and 65 abstracts at international conferences. Prof. Kamal migrated to Australia in 1998 and was awarded a prestigious U2000 Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2000 by the University of Sydney, School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences. Amongst numerous projects, he also collaborated on the molecular biological research project “Linkage of Alzheimer’s disease and Type 2 diabetes” at the University of Technology, Sydney - the commonalities underpinning these two disorders that impact a huge proportion of the world population remain an area of his current scientific focus. Mathew serving as a chief executive guest editor of the journals of current drug targets and combinatorial chemistry and high throughput screening. Professor Ishtiaq Qadri, PhD is a molecular virologist with interests in the pathogenesis of viral diseases, antiviral developments. He is investigating the underlying molecular mechanism(s) that govern the onset of viral-induced diseases and the particular focus is  on viral hepatitis (HBV & HCV), vector borne viral diseases (Dengue), and MERS-CoV.  He obtained his PhD from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, UK (1988) and later carried out postdoctoral fellowship work at the University California (UCSF) San Francisco (1988-1994) and University of Colorado Health Sciences Campus (UHSC), Denver  USA (1994-1999). He later served as faculty in the same institute. He has authored and coauthored over 200 research publications in peer reviewed journals. He established a  National Center of Virology and Immunology (NCVI) in Pakistan (2006-2011) and he is the Founder CEO of  IQ-institute  of infection and Infection (2012-). Biography of A.M. Seifalian

Alexander Seifalian, Professor of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine worked at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London for over 26 years, during this time he spent a year at Harvard Medical School looking at caused of cardiovascular diseases and a year at Johns Hopkins Medical School looking at the treatment of liver cancer. He published more than 647 peer-reviewed research papers and registered 14 UK and International patents. On editorial boards of 41 journals. He is currently CEO of NanoRegMed Ltd, working on the commercialisation of his research. During his career, Prof Seifalian has led and managed many large projects with successful outcomes in terms of commercialisation and translation to patients. In 2007 he was awarded the top prize in the field for the development of nanomaterials and technologies for cardiovascular implants by Medical Future Innovation, and in 2009 he received a Business Innovation Award from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). He was the European Life Science Awards’ Winner of Most Innovative New Product 2012 for the “synthetic trachea”. Prof Seifalian won the Nanosmat Prize in 2013 and in 2016 he received the Distinguish Research Award in recognition of his outstanding work in regenerative medicine from Heals Healthy Life Extension Society. His achievements include the development of the world first synthetic trachea, lacrimal drainage conduit, and vascular bypass graft using nanocomposite materials, bioactive molecules and stem cell technology. Currently, he is working on the development and commercialisation of human organs using graphene-based nanocomposite materials and stem cells technology. Recently he has commercialised a novel functionalised graphene oxide for drug/gene/vaccine delivery application. He also have been working in development of nanomaterials for medical and pharmaceutical and industrial application.

Prof. (Dr.) Gyan S. Shekhawat’s research involves various aspects related to Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Signaling and Stress Physiology. Prof. Shekhawat also working on biochemical aspects of medicinal and aromatic plant species and there in vitro propagation, conservation, specifically rare and endangered plants of Indian Thar Desert. Prof. Shekhawat completed his PhD from University of Rajasthan, and since then continuously engaged in research; initially started as a CSIR Post Doc Fellow, BOYSCAST fellowship and worked at University of South Florida, USA. Dr Shekhawat has also been awarded by INSA International Exchange Fellowship, Young Research Award, Professor YS Murthy Gold medal award by Indian Botanical Society. He has also completed several research projects funded by several national and international funding agencies. Prof. Shekhawat has published more than 75 research papers/articles in journal of international repute with cumulative Impact Factor 85 (Scopus) and H-index is 22 with cumulative citation 1600. Presently Prof (Dr.) Gyan S. Shekhawat presently working on Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), Nitric oxide (NO) signaling in plants and in vitro production of medicinally potent metabolites.

Biography of M.S. Sikarwar

Dr. Mukesh Singh Sikarwar is an Associate Professor at AIMST University, Malaysia. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the KLE University, Belgaum, India. He started his career as an Assistant Professor at K.L.E. University College of Pharmacy, Belgaum, India in 2011. Thereafter, he joined AIMST University, Malaysia, in 2013, as a full-time Assistant Professor. His research is focused on Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry I, II & Alternative medicine, Pharmaceutical analysis. He is also an Editorial Board Member of different journals.


About The Journal

Coronaviruses publishes original research articles, letters, reviews/mini-reviews, clinical trial and guest edited thematic issues on all aspects of coronaviruses such as their origins, types, transmission, pathogenesis, epidemiological, demographic, clinical and genomic characteristics.

Coronaviruses also covers case reports and studies on coronavirus outbreak, patient symptoms, related diseases, preventive measures, treatment and development of new therapeutics.
